Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Thompson, James (Jim) David; Passed away suddenly in his 72nd year with his beloved daughters and wife by his side on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at the University Hospital in London. He will be dearly missed by his wife Linda, daughters Mary Thompson and Melanie Hennessey (Hugh), loving grandchildren Daylin and Lacey Parker, Summer Champagne, and Claire and Noah Hennessey. He was predeceased by his parents Melville and Myrtle Thompson, brother John Thompson and sister Joyce Breeze (Don) and survived by his sisters Jean Playter and June Benedict (Frank). Jim was raised on a farm outside of Owen Sound, which influenced his love for all animals, especially Clydesdale horses. Jim had many passions that he was often preoccupied with throughout his life such as his love for trucks, classic cars, country music and hockey. Jim began his career working in gravel pits and drove trucks for many years in Orangeville and surrounding areas, in addition to doing winter road maintenance for the County of Dufferin and Town of Mono. When his daughters were growing up, he enjoyed taking them to hockey games, the skating rink, tobogganing hill and the quarry where he worked to show off his truck and let them climb the huge gravel piles. Jim’s marriage to Linda was nothing short of genuine love and devotion to each other for 48 years. They were best friends and did everything together. He enjoyed the simple things in life every day, like taking walks, reading the newspaper and watching western shows and movies. As per his request, cremation has taken place, and there will be no visitation or service. Arrangements have been entrusted with Hill and Robinson Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 30 Nelson St., Brantford, 519-752-2543. If desired, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada would be appreciated by the family.
