RICE, Morgan Humphrey (Moe) September 28, 1927 - August 2, 2024 Morgan Humphrey Rice, fondly known as "Moe," aged 96, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2024, in Newmarket, Ontario. Born on September 28, 1927, in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, to Stanley and Elsie Rice (née Clarke), Morgan lived a life full of love, adventure, and dedication to his family. Morgan was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Mary Ann (née Howenka), who passed away in August 2023. They shared 71 years of marriage, marked by deep love and unwavering commitment. With his passing, Morgan and Mary Ann are now reunited, continuing their love story together in eternity. Morgan married Mary Ann on March 15, 1952, and together they raised three children: Steven (Brenda), Lori, and Craig (Ann). Their military life took them across Ontario and Quebec, and after 22 years, Morgan retired from the the Air Force as Captain and left many of his military friends in Alliston to begin a teaching career in Sault Ste Marie. Soon after they moved to Brantford, where they lived for many years until moving to the Newmarket area last year. Known for his humour, dedication to family, and incredibly tight hugs, Moe was a beloved teacher at Herman E. Fawcett Secondary, inspiring many students and making lifelong friends along the way. He had a passion for cooking, cars, and carpentry, creating cherished keepsakes for his grandchildren. His favourite pastime was fishing, which brought him great joy and relaxation. Morgan is survived by his children, Steven (Brenda), Lori, and Craig (Ann); his grandchildren, Ashley (Vince) and their children Maddox, Avery, and Sophia; Lindsay and her children Reece and Mason; Stephanie; Samantha (Octavian) and their children Harrison, Liam, and Lottie; Megan (Dan) and their son Miles; and Christopher (Hannah). He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary Ann, his sister Sylvia Grusmajer, and his parents, Stanley and Elsie Rice (née Clarke). Morgan lived a long, good life. Even with the challenges he faced in his later years, he maintained his sense of humour and love for his family until the end. Almost 97 years later, he died in comfort and peace in a lovely hospice in Newmarket, where his sons and daughters-in-law said farewell with love and wished him peace as he left to meet Mary Ann. In honouring Morgan's memory, the family requests donations to the Brantford Food Bank (https://crs-help.ca/donate), a cause close to both his and Mary Ann's hearts. Morgan Humphrey Rice will be deeply missed, and his legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to family will live on in our hearts forever.
