Condolences
Always looked forward to the Saturdays. See you later... for coffee.
. When visiting Nan and Grandpa Greentree Uncle George was always working on his cars or helping others with theirs I to remember going to the Paris Fair to watch the Derby. Recently Uncle George sent me a friend request on Facebook and sadly my sister told me of his sudden passing. I still drive by the house in the summer and tell me kids of all the fun times was had there.Normally you say fly high but drive fast Uncle George.
so sorry for your loss george and my brother gerry giles used to hang around in there younger years
Hey folks, gather around for a trip down memory lane...
Picture me as this little paint-splattered kid excited that Uncle George let my brother, my cousins and myself, help paint parts of his demolition derby cars in Harrisburg. Most of us were trying to find the best spot to paint our names on the car, hoping our names would get annihilated during the demolition derby. I secretly wanted my name to last, so I would put my name as close as possible to the white driver’s door.
On the day of the Paris Fair demolition derby, I would sit with my mom, dad and brother (David, Melrose and Greg Camp) in the bleachers. We would cheer the entire time Uncle George was competing. But, here's the kicker – I remember my mom, cheering like a maniac and throwing a few choice swear words at anyone who dared scratch or crash into her little brother’s car. This was my early introduction to motorsports, the roar of the engines and the spectacle of destruction. I looked forward to watching Uncle George during demolition derby season, it was my favorite part of the Paris Fair.
In retrospect, I feel that life is a bit like a personal demolition derby. We navigate the chaotic arena filled with unexpected collisions, sharp turns and the occasional pile up. Sometimes we win, and sometimes we lose. Remembering to rev up our engines, crash through those obstacles and steer through towards the win to find the joy we are all looking for.
Uncle George influenced us all in different ways, usually by small kind gestures that in the moment, probably didn’t mean much to him, but meant the world to all the paint-splattered kids out there. As we wave goodbye to Uncle George, let's carry his spirit forward. Let's keep cheering for each other, swear a bit when life gets rough, but always paint our lives with love and laughter.
George you will always be in my heart forever. <3 <3 You were very caring about others and how they felt <3 And I will miss you a lot sending lots and lots of hugs,. Until we meet again. Sister Donna
I had the honor of working with George for almost 20 years and we always had friendly banter and laughs.
George was one of the kindest human beings I have ever met and will be sadly missed.
Always willing to help others, always smiling - he is truly one of a kind.
Everyone who met him had nothing but positive things to say about him.
Will miss you my friend
We very much enjoyed being George’s neighbour. Our shared interest in the town’s animals, especially the family of cats next door. We’ll miss the long backyard chats, friendly banter and just seeing George in the window, watching out for us. These are the memories we will choose to remember, not that very sad Monday morning.
Our thoughts are with you, Misty and Barbara. You know where to find us whenever need be❤️
Uncle George we are so deeply saddened you departed so suddenly, but God needed you.
My family and I take comfort in knowing you are at peace. I always treasured our conversations, our laughter, and our memories when reflecting back on precious family moments.
Whether we were sharing a coffee, or enjoying a family feast, there was always laughter.
Thank you for decades of complimentary vehicle advice.
Your knowledge of vehicles was second-to-none.
Hopefully God provides your family, and my family, particularly Barb and Misty, comfort during this extremely difficult time.
Dona, Gracy, Charles and Tammy
I loved the morning visits from uncle George when I lived in St. George or the time we all went to Fanshawe park for camping. He always had a joke or something positive to say. I will always remember his laugh and his sense of humor. Love always, your and Aunt Barbara's second daughter and Misty's one and only favorite sister. Lol (family joke)
So many amazing memories come to mind when I think of Uncle George. He was an inclusive, safe space, and all were welcome.
Our hearts and thoughts are with you during this time of grieving. Please know that you are not alone in remembering a truly wonderful person that meant so much to so many.
