Obituary of Gerry Tollar

Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Gerry passed away at the Brantford General Hospital on Tuesday, July 18, 2023. She was in her 84th year. Predeceased by her husband Carmen and parents Joseph and Nora Emery. Beloved and devoted Mother to her children John (Kathy), Karrie (Rob), Craig (Jennifer), Kevin (Andrea), and Keith (Sarah). Cherished Grandmother of Jason, Johnny, Cynthia, Kory, Keegan, Ethan, Alycia, Ryan, Christina, Nicholas, Gabriella, Julieanna, Calla, and Isabella. Loving Great-Grandmother to Chase, Carter, Cameron, Rachel, and Reilly. Proud sister of Doug Emery (Judy) and Harvey Emery (Jean). A loving Auntie to her nieces and nephews. Gerry was a devoted mother. After losing Carmen, she worked tirelessly to provide a safe and welcoming home for her children. Her strength was really something to aspire to. She was fun-loving, honest, and a wonderful friend to many. She would often “tell you like it is” and that’s what we truly admired about her. She loved to garden, socialize with friends in her apartment building, and enjoyed spending time with her loving family. Gerry will be deeply missed by all of those that she touched with her sense of humor and her love. She is at peace now and has been reunited with her husband Carmen. They are laughing, embracing one another, and dancing together to Lady in Red. Our family would like to thank the Brantford General Hospital Palliative Care Team for their kindness and compassion during Gerry’s final days. A special thank you to Gerry’s dear friend Sue for all of her help while Gerry was still at home. Friends will be received at the Hill and Robinson Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 30 Nelson Street, Brantford, 519-752-2543 on Thursday, August 10th, 2023 from 1:00 pm-3:00 pm and 6:00 pm-8:00 pm. A private memorial service will be held with interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
