Obituary of Joanne Skelton

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joanne Skelton, aged 84, on July 12th, 2023 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Hamilton. Joanne was predeceased by her beloved husband Richard Skelton and dearly loved son John Skelton. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Lisa and Andrew Skelton, as well as her daughter-in-law Elizabeth Skelton. Joanne will also be missed by many nephews, nieces, and other extended family. And lovingly remembered by many close and life long friends that she has made over the years. Joanne will be remembered for her courage and perseverance. She went through a very hard loss in 2021, having lost her son, husband, and mother-in-law all in the same year. Despite all this, she wished to remain on her farm, which is where she resided until four days before her passing. Her home was very important to her, as was her adored horse Duke and dog Tara. The family would like to thank Joanne’s close friends Deb Gray and Pam Sunjic-Clugston for all of their help in the barn. Without them it would not have been possible for Joanne to keep her horse. A special thank you goes to Pam and her family for adopting Duke and for all of their loving care and support, especially over these last couple of weeks. A huge thank you also goes to the wonderful staff at Juravinski and St. Peter’s Hospital for their care and compassion. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with Hill and Robinson Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 30 Nelson St. Brantford, 519-752-2543. For those wishing to make a memorial donation in Joanne’s memory, they are asked to consider the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the SPCA. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
