Please share a memory of Jeffrey to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with sadness that the family of Jeff Edwards announces his passing at the Stedman Hospice on March 21st 2023. Jeff was born on July 22, 1929, the only son of Phyllis and Alfred Edwards of Liverpool, England. Jeff grew up amid the damage that was ravaged upon that busy port city during World War II. He completed his National Service in the Royal Navy in 1950 and joined the British Police Service in Liverpool. Jeff considered emigrating to Australia, but by chance he followed his good friend and fellow constable Bill Minnery to Canada instead. Jeff was working for the London Constabulary, Ontario, when he met and married Irene Foster. Together, they had three children: Lynne Bateson (Terry), Janice Robinson (Ken), and David (Pam). In 1963, they moved to Brantford and Jeff worked two jobs to try and make ends meet, as a guard at the Burtch Correctional Farm and as a Bus Driver for Canada Coach Lines. Though the couple divorced in 1974, they remained in contact. It was during his tenure at heavy equipment manufacturer Koehring Waterous as a Machine Operator that Jeff met and married the woman he considered the love of his life, Karen Hill (deceased). Together they traveled across Canada and visited England and Wales, the latter being Jeff’s favourite country of all. They enjoyed many happy years together until Karen’s untimely death in 2009. Jeff loved intelligent conversation and enjoyed sharing his knowledge on many topics. He was an avid reader and loved classical music. Jeff will be deeply missed by his family, his caregiver Anna Yeoman, and his dear friends Chuck and Vesta. Cremation has taken place. As per Jeff’s wishes there will be no formal service. If so wished, donations made to the SPCA would be appreciated. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hill and Robinson Funeral Home, 30 Nelson St. Brantford, 519-752-2543.
