Obituary of Beverly Anne Peterson

Please share a memory of Beverly to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Beverly Anne Peterson (Skokun) July 14, 1946 - June 7, 2022 Surrounded by love from her family and care team, Beverly Anne passed peacefully in her room at Madonna Care Community in Ottawa, Ontario on June 7, 2022, five weeks shy of her 76th birthday. Beverly joins the loving heavenly embrace of her parents, Muriel and Carl, step-fathers Murray and Jack, brothers George and Walter, grandson Corey, and niece Barbie. Left to mourn and to never forget are her daughter Stephanie (Lee), grandson Cole (Stephen), granddaughter Tanisha (Neil), niece Crystal Dawn (James), great-grandchildren Eris "The Little One," Allan, and Gordon, step-grandson Kyle, brothers Bobby and Donny, sisters Marilyn and Jean, and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins, including her beautiful flower girl, Michele. Beverly was born at Brantford General Hospital on July 14, 1946, the second child of Muriel (Barret) and Carl Peterson. Born deaf, Beverly showed perseverance and determination as she learned to read lips before gaining her hearing after undergoing surgery at the age of 13. She raised her family in Paris and Brantford, working hard as a landlord and factory worker for decades. Beverly later returned to school to embrace her passion for caring for others and went on to support countless patients over the years at nursing homes and in private residences in Ontario and Nova Scotia. Fiercely proud of her achievements in life, and those of her daughter and grandchildren, Beverly was a kind, loyal, compassionate woman with a drive to work hard, a love of dancing, and a passion for learning, especially about history. Whether it was taking her grandchildren to museums, shopping at antique stores, or researching her family history, she shared her love for the stories of the past with all those around her. Her appreciation for collecting beautiful things was well known, including her collection of 75 Royal Doulton dolls and her beloved jewellery. Beverly and her stories will be deeply missed. Mom, Nana, Auntie Bev -- we love you so much. We're looking at the stars, knowing that you see them too. Per her wishes, Beverly has been cremated. A celebration of life for friends and family will take place at Hill & Robinson Funeral Home, 30 Nelson St., Brantford on Friday, June 17th, 2022 from 12-2pm, interment to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, 169 Charing Cross St, Brantford at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County. The family wishes to thank the wonderful team that cared for Beverly, and her friends on Maple Glen. Your care and compassion were felt deeply, and Beverly knew you loved her. "Yes, when this flesh and heart shall fail, And mortal life shall cease; I shall possess, within the veil, A life of joy and peace."
