Condolences
Thank you to everyone for your kind words. I don't think it has quite sunk in yet that he's gone as everything happened so quickly. I do know that he is with my mom and it gives us great comfort and peace knowing they are together again.
Doug was a wonderful person and an amazing friend. My life is better for knowing him for the past 50 years. My sincere condolences to his family.

Doug was one of the most exceptional men I've ever known! A super Dad to his three daughters, a loving granddad, and a very special cousin to those of us in Draper, VA...USA. His Mom was born in our area of Virginia and Doug, even though always having lived in Ontario and loving it, he never lost that touch of southern living and southern hospitality traits to all who knew him! He still enjoyed his Virginia visits with the chicken and dumplings, sausage gravy, and homemade biscuits. He was a very friendly person, who loved to host...whether it be playing cards with his buddies, fishing, cookouts and partying time with his family. We "southern folk" knew we were always welcome in his home and we truly always looked forward to their summer visits there.
He lost the love of his life, Carole, a few years ago...She was of the same mind as Doug...so very special! I'm sure they're loving the time they're spending together today.
'Your family in Virginia will always miss you, sugar, and look forward to seeing you and Carole on the other side! ....just wish we could have been able to tell you one more time how much we loved you and how special you were to us all!

Uncle Doug what I used to call him…i might have been asked by friends, as I got older, “ is that really your uncle??” I’d say no….he’s so much more than just an uncle!! World is gonna miss you!!!
We would like to send our condolences on the death of Doug.
