Victoria Anna Le Gresley (Nee Vautour)
Victoria Anna Le Gresley was born on June 9, 1931, grew up in St. Louis de Kent, New Brunswick. She passed away May 21, 2021 in Paris, Ontario at the age of 89. As a young woman, Victoria studied and worked in St. John, NB. She moved to Toronto and married Louis Joseph Le Gresley. Victoria and Louis were married 66 years and raised three children together, George, Ella and Paul, in Toronto Ontario.
Victoria was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved to dance and was an excellent bowler. She was often noted in the local Brantford newspaper for her high bowling scores, in league play. Her newspaper cutouts were proudly displayed on the fridge, for all to see. She was always up for a game of cards and crokinole. At family parties, Victoria was challenged to a crokinole match, by all and still remained the champion. She would boldly parade around in her Crokinole Queen cape and crown while exclaiming her undefeated status, such a fabulous memory and will be so missed. Victoria was a passionate and skilled baker. Her baking was delicious. Her children especially loved her 'Pette de Soeur’, a yummy treat made with scrap pie dough, butter and brown sugar - divine! Another specialty of hers, was her chocolate chip cookies, which were generously shared in large zip lock bags with friends and family. In fact, her large bags of cookies were requested by and fuelled her grandson Daniel’s university football teammates, for four seasons.
Victoria was an incredible woman who welcomed anyone into her home and around her dinner table. One of her favourite places to be was on her Bastedo Ave. porch, in Toronto, chatting with neighbours and people passing by. She loved watching game shows and listening to country music. Her smile and love will be greatly missed. Bye for now Maman!
Victoria was predeceased by her husband Louis and her son Paul. She is survived by her son George (Kathy), daughter Ella (Richard Trimble), her grandchildren Keila, Daniel, Lauren, Alison, Erica and her great-grandchildren Jake, Kate, Avery, Blake, Henry and Elias. She is also remembered by her sister Aurea and her brother Gerald.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Park Lane Terrace, in Paris, ON, for the great care they provided. We also wish to thank Dr. Hanley and Nurse Janice, for their guidance through this difficult time. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hill and Robinson Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 30 Nelson St. Brantford, 519-752-2543.
