Wilkes, John Leslie - Passed away peacefully at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, March 21st, 2021 at 83 years of age. Reunited with his wife Barbara (2012). Cherished father of Tracy (Greg) Hover and Patrick (Tanya) Wilkes. Loving 'grumpa' of Tatum and Addison and grand furbaby joonbug. Survived by sister Meryln (Gord). Predeceased by his siblings George, Mae, Dorothy, Lucille and Robert and his parents Les and Margaret. John retired as the Quality Control Manager at Sonoco Canada Corporation, where he was an employee for 35 years. He also served as the secretary of the 20 year club for Sonoco. In early 2019 John learned to play the guitar becoming a guitar aficionado. He performed his first concert in June 2019. He will be fondly missed by his extended family, friends and all who knew him. Friends will be received at the Hill and Robinson Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 30 Nelson Street, Brantford, 519-752-2543 on Saturday March 27th, 2021 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. Service of Remembrance will be held in the chapel on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation has taken place. Due to COVID 19 restrictions, face masks must be worn and physical and social distancing must be adhered to. If desired, donations to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Society or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
