It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Rodney on February 5, 2017 at the Hamilton General Hospital in his 79th year. Beloved husband of the late Shirley. Loving dad of Brenda, proud grandpa of Nathan (Allison) and Sara Berkeley. Great-grandpa of Greyson and Sawyer. Dear brother of Alan (Shirley). Life long friend of Walter Hines. Rod will be deeply missed by a multitude of family members and friends.
Rod had a great passion for life and loved to entertain people with humour. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was the recipient of several provincial awards and a prestigious Canada's Recreational Fisheries Award "in recognition of an outstanding contribution to the conservation and enhancement of the recreational fisheries." Rod was one of the original founding members of the Ontario Steelheaders. For decades, his mission was to increase the fishery of the Saugeen River that is enjoyed by so many today.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at the Dunsdon Legion, 9 Tollgate Road, Brantford on Sunday, February 19th from 12 noon – 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ontario Steelheaders are welcome www.steelheaders.ca PO Box 604, Brantford, ON N3T 5P9
