Szabo, Eva - Passed away peacefully at the John Noble Home on Monday, October 24th, 2016 in her 85th year. Eva was born in Budapest, Hungary on Dec. 23, 1931 to Janos and Janka Reichel. She lived through the terrible years of WWII, the rise of the Soviet Communist era in Hungary, then the beginning of the 1956 Hungarian uprising against the Soviet Communism. Eva fortunately emigrated to Canada in 1957 and became a Canadian citizen shortly thereafter. She later married her husband Joseph (deceased) in Brantford, and throughout their lives enjoyed a number of visits to Hungary, many tours throughout the USA, and trips to Cuba. Eva leaves one daughter Gyorgyi Gallai, and her husband Steve Mendell, granddaughter Jacqueline Veissaid her husband Andre, and great-grandchildren Henry, Gabriel, and Cloe, also grandson David Gallai his wife Joanna, and great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Leora. They all reside in New York City. The family would also like to thank Eta Penzes for her constant friendship with Eva throughout her residency at John Noble Home. Friends will be received at the HILL & ROBINSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 30 Nelson Street on Wednesday from 12-1 p.m. A Funeral Service will follow in the chapel on Wednesday at 1 pm. Interment Oakhill Cemetery. Donations to the John Noble Home would be appreciated. Donations and condolences are available online at www.hillandrobinson.com.
