Gabriel, Amalia - In her 96th year, Amalia passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus at the Stedman Community Hospice - Hankinson House, on Monday, May 9th, 2016. Cherished mother of Susan (Ken) Frisk and Kathleen (Brian VanDommele) Gabriel. Beloved grandmother of Colleen (Wes) Warkentin and Michael Frisk. Loving great grandmother of Jared, Zachery and Luke. Warkentin. Amalie was born in Budapest Hungary in 1920. She nursed soldiers during World War II, and was awarded the silver cross. She came to Canada as a widow in 1949, with her two daughters. Amalia was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Amalia Balatoni; brother Joseph and husbands Arpad Benedek and Paul Gabriel. Amalia operated Bellview Private Hospital in Burford, Ontario until her retirement. She was a dedicated nurse and provided excellent care for her elderly patients. Family and friends will be received at NEW COVENANT CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP, 22 Holiday Drive, Brantford, ON, on Saturday, May 14th, 2016 from 10 - 11 a.m.. Funeral service will be held at the Church at 11 a.m.. Interment at Oakhill Cemetery, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Amalie, may be made to the charity of choice. Arrangements entrusted to the HILL & ROBINSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE. "Well done good and faithful servant. Enter thou into the joy of the Lord." Matthew 25:21
