Kavanaugh, Russell - Passed away peacefully at Hardy Terrace, Mt. Pleasant with his family at his side on Thursday, June 30, 2011. Born April 1, 1936 in New Waterford, N.S., Cape Breton Island. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Marguerite (Turnbull) Kavanaugh. Dear father of Debbie (Robert) Maracle and Karen (Jay) Smith. Proud Poppy of Richard (Crystal) Maracle, Stephanie (Josh) Staats, Jayson, Kyle, Karena and Cathryn Smith. Great-grandfather of Owen Maracle. Lovingly remembered by his sisters Carmie Clifford and Florence 'Tootsie' (Peter) Higgins and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Dan and Martha (Kelly) Kavanaugh, step-father Pete Parsons, brother Dan Kavanaugh, sister Bride Turnbull, brothers-in-law Omar Turnbull and Ronnie Clifford. Russ was a retired employee with over 25yrs of service from Hussman's Store Equipment, Brantford. Friends will be received at the HILL & ROBINSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 30 Nelson St. on Monday, July 4th, from 7-9 pm, and Tuesday, July 5th from 12-1 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. A heartfelt thanks to the staff of Hardy Terrace. Donations may be made in Russ' memory to the Brantford Charter of Acquired Brain Injuries.
