SHORTT, Lawrence John "Jim" - Peacefully on Wednesday, May 11th, 2011, at the Brantford General Hospital, at the age of 87 years. Best friend and loving husband of Georgina (nee Blenkinsop) for over 65 years. Beloved father of Jim, Frannie (Peter) Coolican, Brenda Butler, Gail (Paul) Spong, and Gary (Bettyann). Adoring grandfather of Ginny (Ken), Valerie (Jerry), Victoria, Tim (Ashlynne), Erin, Rob, Cathy (Scott), Roxane, Nick and Stephanie (Jordan). Hero and great-grandfather of Ashton, Chyna (Curtis), Brendan, Elaina, Noah, Lea, Tyler, Lucas, Fynn and Scarlet. Brother to Stella Owens and Vic Shortt. Predeceased by brothers Walter and William, and sisters Helen and Marg. Lawrence was a veteran of World War II, serving overseas. He was an avid bowler at Star Lanes, and a former employee of Cockshutt's/White Farms; and he loved to plant tulips in his garden. Special thanks to the nursing staff at the B.G.H. and the C.C.A.C.; the Support Care Workers and nurses at the Brierwood Gardens and St. Joseph's Lifecare Centre for their wonderful care and support. Friends will be received at the HILL & ROBINSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 30 Nelson Street, on Sunday, May 15th, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery. Donations in lieu of flowers to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated.
