I moved to Brantford at the age of 19 not knowing one person. I took a job with the local media and found myself struggling to learn new roads, places and faces. One event i covered involved many of the area reporters and that is where i met Irene. She sat down next to me, offered me a pen and I made my first friend. She never hesitated to open up her home or arms when needed. I learned so much from this woman and am grateful everyday that I was able to be a part of her life. It was hard not to mail out my usual silly Birthday card this year. I often see her in many of my memories and smile.

Oh Irene,

You will be dearly missed my friend. I will always cherish your forgiving nature. You were teaching me to paint and draw. I will never forget bringing in 2013 even though we were in the BGH emergency room. Morning tea and muffins will never be the same. Rest now without pain or worry. Till we meet again my friend.

To Robin, Darien,Tye and Irene's Familey I am sadden for you all for the passing of Irene,My deepest sympathy goes out to all of you,and I know you are all hurting right now,but try to think of all the good time's and that she has a hand in her's and is walking threw the gates of Heaven looking done on her loved ones,and she will suffer no more,I am so very sorry for you all,Love Rosie Nano.

Irene took me under her wing many years ago when we both worked with the media in Brantford. She was a bright light in many people's lives and always found the positive in any circumstance. She fought hard and can now rest in peace. I will greatly miss her laugh, smile and friendship. My condolences to the family. I will keep you all in my prayers. xo

I have just lost my best friend. There are no real words!! My only condolence is that she is no longer in pain and was able to leave us while still in her own home and she left me one of her babies to cherish.
