Obituary of Mark Wilson

Please share a memory of Mark to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
WILSON, Mark- July 6, 1994-October 24, 2023 Peacefully and suddenly, surrounded by his family in his 29th year, Mark Wilson passed away at the Brantford General Hospital. Deeply missed by his beloved mother Krista Butler (Jimi Zimmer), sister Melissa Smetana (Mat Haydon), Sister Cindy Brown (Garrett Brown), nephew Koen, and niece Harlyn. Mark is also survived by his Grandfather James Butler, his late Grandmother Blanche Butler, uncle James Butler (Audrey Maitland), uncle Jason Butler (Lydia Van Woudenberg) and cousins Wesley, Catharina, Jade, Madison, and Lynden. Mark is also survived by his father Mark Wilson, his late Grandfather Harry Wilson, his late Grandmother Pam Wilson, many aunts, uncles, and cousins on the Wilson side. Mark “MJ”, was an avid fisherman. You could catch him down at the Grand River in the early hours of the mornings, or later in the evening when he knew the fish were hungry. He loved the outdoors, late night strolls through town, video games, and spending quality time with his family and friends. Mark will always be remembered by his kind heart, big smile, and infectious laughter. Mark had a love for music, with some of his favourite bands being Metallica, Mega Death, Nazareth, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Ozzy Osborne, Led Zeppelin, to name a few. You would always see him supporting a band t-shirt if you ever ran into him. Mark enjoyed hooking up the guitar to an amp and rocking out with his step father Jimi, uncle Jake, and brother-in-law, Garrett. When a good tune came on, you could hear him humming to the beat. And, if he wasn’t on a real guitar, he’d be playing the air guitar. He spent a lot of time with his sister Melissa and brother-in-law Mat cruising the town or going on an adventure out of town. Family time was important to Mark. When Mark shows up to a family gathering. his niece and nephews' faces would light up. Running past anyone else in sight, jumping right into his arms, begging to play video games, shoot some hoops, or jump on the trampoline. Uncle MJ was always down to have some fun. They spent a lot of time together, and will be truly missed by them both. A visitation will be held on Wednesday November 1st, 2023 from 7pm-9pm at the Hill and Robinson Funeral Home, 30 Nelson St. Brantford, 519-752-2543. Cremation will follow, and a private ceremony will be held in the coming months, where Mark will lay to rest at the Waterford Greenwood Cemetery.
