GIbbs, Janet Ann (nee Scott)
Surrounded by family at the Brantford General Hospital, Janet passed away on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 87 years old. Predeceased just 5 months ago by her beloved husband of 66years, William "Bill" Gibbs. Survived by her 5 children Sandy Gibson (Bill), Janice Churchill (Glen), Susan Bernaski (Terry), Bill Gibbs (Shelley) and Barbara Amyotte (Neil); 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; loving sister to Isabelle Stauffer and Jack Scott; predeceased by her sister Margaret "Peg" Armstrong.  Janet graduated as a Registered Nurse and worked for a few years at the Brantford General Hospital but her most important role was that of Mom, Grandma and "Grandma-Great".  Family was her top priority and she loved big family get-togethers and celebrations. She also enjoyed knitting, reading, singing at the player piano, swimming, gardening, pancake breakfasts, darts, cards and Red Hats. She was an avid sports fan. Janet and Bill were active members of the Smokey Hollow Community where they lived for the past 23 years. She will be greatly missed as a role model, inspiration and hero to her family, and will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her kind and caring manner and "heart of gold" --always putting others before herself. At Janet's request, cremation has taken place and a private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the hospital for their excellent care.  In memory of Janet, donations may be made to the Brant Community Healthcare System.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the HILL & ROBINSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 30 Nelson Street, Brantford 519-752-2543.
